Hey strangers. Im Taylor.I live in florida. I've just recently picked up the sticks and am still learning. I've only been on the drum set for about a year and a half(estimated). Im really glad to see so many chick drummers. Lenny Cravits' chick drummer sparked my interest in drums. Hopefully in a few years chick drummers wont be so rare.

Hola! First post + introduction. :)

I've played snare in my h.school symphonic band for about three years now, set for two (mostly jazz. I was born and bred on that stuff, although rock does give my love for jazz a good run for its money :P), anything percussion for about five years (I started off on bells and xylophone), and piano for ten.

Girl drummers rock. I took up drums in the first place because of the flack I was given when I tried to audition for the honor band my freshman year-- I got so mad that my fellow percussionists thought I couldn't do it (they were mostly boys back then) that I tried harder at it. I was the only one from my school perc. section to make it to honor band that year, and I've been at it ever since. My percussion section is practically all girls now-- more power to us!

Also, I've got a question, and I'm sure it's been asked so many times: Exactly how does one double pedal (with one pedal, that is)? I simply cannot get the technique down, and if anybody can also point me into a decent website for that sort of stuff, it would be greatly appreciated.

horti Hi, I'm new here. I've been playing the drums since highschool (im now first year uni).
I love all kinds of music (to play drums to)....I find Justin Timberlake song's drumming beats (not songs, i dont really like his songs..:P) REALLY hard to follow.... they're crazy...but cool.

I do have a kit, but i hardly use it, cos there's not enough space in the house to set it fully up. Actually there is (like a 2.5m by 2.5m space if that counts XP), it's just that can't be stuffed setting it out, then squashing everything in a corner again (and you know how kits have so many pieces to move around!)

ok that's all.. happy drumming everyone!

OK, so I have been drumming for about 9 months(off and on).

I have no idea as to what to say here, I really suck at introductions...uhhh...Ya so My name is Cami, I play the drums, and I am sick of guys I know saying that girls can't drum, because that is sheer bull!

I just sort of beat it out on my own now becasue my drum teacher moved away(sad fact, but he still gives me tips from time to time)

Uhh...I think that's all.

i have a pair of black sticks with white nylon tips, i'm not sure what type (like 7A that kinda thing) because the sticks were given to me as my 15th birthday pressie and i couldnt find it... but they roll perfectly and are nice and light - they're just perfect!

Hey everyone! I'm new to the community and to drumming....in fact I don't even own a drum set yet. I've been wanting to play for years, but don't worry I won't bore you with all the reason why I didn't start sooner.
So anyhow I was thinking of buying a Pacific By DW FS Series 5-Piece Shell Set. I'm really excited, but than I started thinking about all the noise and my two small kids who still take naps and the in-law that I live with. So than I started considering an electric drum set. Really, the thought of an electric set makes me want to cringe, but honestly I could probably get more practice in if I did. Can you even get the same quality from it? I've played one once, but for the price range I want to stay in I don't think I can get anything really good. Any suggestions?

Hey I was wondering if anyone here plays an electric set? My dad's beeing about getting me one because he likes techno, but I'd rather just keep my regular set. Are there any advantages to an electric besides the volume control? I don't really see a point to them....

Hey, my name's lisa, and I've only been playing drums for about a year now. I'm from northern virginia. This is the first girl drumming community I've seen, thought it would be cool to chat with some other drummers. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of tabs online? I've looked places, but none of them were any good.

It's cool to be apart of this, and is anyone from VA?

hello, i just joined!!! :-)

I call myself a 'percussionist'... I've played piano since age 7, mallets in elementary and high school marching band, bass drums and a little snare in the drumline. I also sing and write hip hop beats and music for all genres. ANYWAY, I am interested in learning drum set so I'm taking a college course. I was just wondering is it necessary to know how to play snare before learning set? And I am considering buying my own set in the future, any reccomendations?

4:18 pm - Damn...

dc_is_a_drumgod

So in 11 weeks I have the all important music performance exam for my last year of High School. Next Saturday my band has a gig. The school jazz band is recording a cd at the end of the term. My band is planning to go back into the studio soon. The audition for the music course I want to next year is fast approaching but....

...last week I was diagnosed with Tendonitis in both arms. I can still play but it cramps up after about 5 minutes is excruiatingly painful the longer I play after that. Fine finger movements are a bitch (my rolls are uneven, can't control bounces etc) and 8 years of building up my speed has given way to simplified grooves.

Thankfully my music coordinator arranged for me to go to her naturopath who specialises in musician's injuries. Still...talk about crappy timing! But that's always the way isn't it?
